I got the roland td-17kvx gen2 hands down compared to the pros and cons on the Alexis and Yamaha, Roland VDrum is the best choice for me.

Great video as always Justin! One update is that the TD-50KV2 is no longer available from Roland in the USA. We sold our last one a month ago and can't get any more. The TD-50XEXP is also sold out and there are none left which just happened last week.

I'm getting something like this but instead the snare drum won't trigger any sound at times when I hit the double kick pedal and the snare at the same time. Should I increase or decrease the XTALK? I know I could just do it myself but I just want to make sure which way it will work to avoid this problem in the future and in live gigs. Thanks if anyone can help.

for similar reasons why the masses eat only from the illusion of choices they get in mass media/radio/even Spotify,RUclips music...for similar reasons most of the bands ppl consider their favorite don't know how to read music, and are fine learning guitar tab but never reading notes, ppl are lazy, & uninspired if are not born ambitious self teaching and researching types, which is partially their fault and partially the fault of the ones that are supposed to inspire them who because of the nature of the business we're too concerned with the business end of it and not the music end of it much less worrying about whether their fans would go on to read music and be educated in The Craft.... hopefully with the popularity of bands like animals as Leaders which has been my favorite band of the last four or five years actually 7 8 years add to my absolute shock have become very popular even though their instrumental their progressive and pretty heavy but if this trend can continue with bands like that then there's hope for the humanity in music but if the trend continues downward like it has hip hop and I mean steep slope downwards to where hip hop is no longer hip hop butt is just trapped and every beat is virtually the same just like reggaeton will there be is precisely the same the sheep and the goats the wheat and the chaff separate and we can clear out and get rid of the chaff and people's curiosity and interest and passion and love for music carry them to a place where they desire to read music and get the most out of their instruments and the songs that they write but that is also going to mean that the teachers in the local music shop all around the country and guitar centers in Sam Ash are going to have to step up and if they don't know how to read music already they're going to have to pick that up quick and pass it on to the new generation because as a teacher at local music schools of guitar and drums I've noticed a trend where the hunger and thirst for quality musicianship is definitely there where kids want to learn led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd and so on and so forth the band Jimi Hendrixthe bands that were classic and still are and it just shocked me that kids would rather learn John Bonham lake rather than you know whoever the latest modern rock band is usually just pretty whiny and lacking in musical creativity and then occasionally having the nerve to rely on digital utilizing them to the fullest extent like one need look no further than YES, where did he didn't even exist Rick wakeman and guys like Keith Emerson we're not only experts at their craft I'm better than any keyboardist playing today within the last decade but also contributed to the technology progressing and were Staples in the development of instruments talking to each other with the use of midi and DIN connectors-ALTHOUGH IT STANDS FOR DEUTSCHE INDUSTRIE NETWORK(not sure about network but something along the lines of network cable or something but it's not for guys like Keith Emerson and Rick wakeman some of these technologies wouldn't exist so not only with a and could they read music and play their instruments like virtuosos but also sort out the latest technology and helps develop the latest technology... where is I noticed although the technology for digital sampling and cabinet emulation and so on it's so fast and ubiquitous it seems like almost too much information because no one's using it where is back in the day you had three pedals that came out and Hendricks would use them to the fullest and then some today you have cabinet simulators and no one knows how to use any of that stuff or at least if they do they aren't proving it or letting us know that they have utilizing it

Hey man, after 3 years of this video it is still valid and very useful! Knowing that today the Yamaha DTX6K3-X is $200 more expensive than the Roland TD-17KVX2, which of the two models do you think is worth buying? I'm dying of indecision 😵. I heard that the Yamaha sounds better and that the module is a little better too, but I don't know if the small pads are comfortable. I don't have any local stores in my area to try them 😔

Thanks for the overview, Justin! I want to see how the DWe does from the technology robustness POV, as well as the new Zildjian offering, especially the cymbals. You know that's my pain point as a gigging drummer, so much so that I've been playing more edrums and acoustic cymbals lately. Bottom line, though: The majority of drummers don't have $7-10k to drop on a high-end ekit. I'll stick with the DIY route with my cobbled-together Extreme Drums triggers, Roland TD-30 and SD3, which I'll put up against any packaged kit.
